Valerenga Fotball versus Liverpool: Preseason friendly – First half review (Part 1)
Liverpool took on the Norwegian club side Valerenga Fotball in their second last pre-season friendly in Oslo as both the teams looked to get a win at their back in order to give themselves confidence to head into the regular season
which commences in around about two weeks. Liverpool thus fielded a strong side against Valerenga whereas the hosts went with a mixture of their http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/U-17-Youth-team-c40787 along with some of the first team players.
Liverpool started with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Agger-c9884 in central defence with Robinson filling in at
left back. In the midfield area, Kenny Dalglish’s team benefitted from the presence of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dirk-Kuyt-c11348 alongside him.
Valerenga started the match confidently as Haidar played a through ball towards Strandberg but the host team’s striker didn’t anticipate the pass and thus the ball rolled out of play for a Liverpool goal kick. In the 4th
minute of the encounter, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 rose to the occasion as Charlie Adam took control of the ball in the midfield area. The former Blackpool player used his extensive passing range to fire a long ball towards Andy Carroll but Valerenga’s defence cleared the
pass away with relative ease as the score line remained at nil all.
In the 5th minute, Stewart Downing took it upon himself to break the deadlock as he found himself on the ball on the right hand side of the Valerenga penalty area. Unfortunately enough, the former Middlesbrough man failed
to put enough curve on his cross as it was easily headed back into the goalkeeper’s hands by Ogude inside the Valerenga penalty area.
In the 6th minute, Glen Johnson led the Liverpool attack but his cross was easily belted away from the penalty area by Valerenga’s defender Dalh Hagen. In the 7th minute, the ball fell kindly for Andy Carroll
inside the Norwegian club’s penalty area. However the former Newcastle United man failed to make a sure contact with his volley as his effort drifted wide of the goal due to the lack of accuracy on it.
Shortly after it was Henderson who tried to prod a cross towards Carroll inside the Valerenga penalty area but the home team’s defence was alert once again as they cleared the ball away calmly. Despite dominating the early proceedings,
Liverpool failed to fashion a clear cut goal scoring opportunity in the opening minutes of their preseason friendly against Valerenga in Oslo.
