After coming close to breaking the deadlock in the first ten minutes of their pre-season friendly against Valerenga in Oslo, Liverpool had their best chance of the first half in the 11th minute when Stewart Downing decided
to take the initiative for the Merseyside giants. The former Aston Villa winger cut in from his right wing position and then unleashed a brilliant shot at Valerenga’s goal but his shot had a bit too much pace on it as it sailed over the cross bar by mere inches.
In the 13th minute of the encounter disaster struck for the visiting team as Valerenga got their first goal of the encounter. Despite being second best for most part of the first half, the home team capitalized on the
first goal scoring chance that fell their way.
Nielsen crossed the ball towards Iver Strand who made no mistake from eight yards out as he slipped the ball past Pepe Reina with relative ease, giving his team a one goal advantage in Oslo against the mighty Liverpool.

Liverpool’s slack defending came back to haunt them in the 16th minute as Charlie Adam’s clumsy challenge caught Kone on his foot inside the Liverpool penalty area. The referee was on hand to spot the infringement and
he pointed directly towards the spot to signal a penalty kick for the home team.
Ogude stepped up to take the ensuing spot kick and the Valerenga midfielder made no mistake as he slotted the ball past http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-Reina-c29672 to make it two goals to nil in Oslo in favour of the home team. In the 19th minute, Kone
was on hand to make things worse for Liverpool as he made a darting run into the away team’s penalty area. However the Norwegian striker failed to apply the appropriate finishing touches to his run as Reina came out of his six yard box to block the striker’s
effort.
In the 27th minute, Liverpool almost pulled a goal back as Andy Carroll headed the ball towards Johnson from a Stewart Downing corner kick. Johnson decided to cheekily chip the Valerenga goalkeeper but the home team’s
defence rushed back to help their goal keeper out as they cleared the ball off the line to maintain their clean sheet.
Nonetheless, Liverpool broke their duck just before the half time whistle as Andy Carroll provided a fine finish following http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stewart-Downing-c34221’s cross from only eight yards out. Shortly after, the first half came to a close with the
