Valerenga Fotball versus http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809: Preseason friendly – Second half review (Part 2)
Following their domination at the start of the second half but their failure to equalize despite their best attempts at Valerenga’s goal, Liverpool stepped up the accelerator in their preseason friendly encounter in Oslo. With
the score line at 2-1 in favour of the home side, the Merseyside Reds found themselves under pressure to equalize as soon as possible but the home team’s resolute defence made it difficult for them to do so. Despite having a larger share of the possession,
Liverpool found it hard to break through Valerenga’s ranks who were comfortable playing on the counter attack as they defended in numbers.
In the 64th minute, Liverpool were almost caught out at the back by Valerenga’s youthful attack as Azemi made a fine run in behind the Premier League team’s defence. Carragher and co. were left stranded but Singh failed
to find his team mate with a through ball as the move died down. In the 66th minute, Andy Carroll came close to finding the back of the net for Liverpool once again as this time the Liverpool striker was found in space by Kuyt at the far post for
the Merseyside giants but the Dutchman’s cross was a bit overhead and that made it difficult for Carroll to appropriately direct his header.
Robinson was booked by the referee in the 67th minute as he cynically pulled on Leigh’s shirt to keep the winger for initiating a counter attack. It was a smart foul by the young full back who had realized in time that
he had to stop play because his team were short of numbers at the back. In the 68th minute, Liverpool decided to change things around as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonjo-Shelvey-c19081 was thrown into the fray as he replaced Charlie Adam in the midfield region. In the 69th
minute, further substitutions were conducted by the visiting team as Kelly and Flanagan both entered the field of play for the Reds.
In the 71st minute, Valerenga responded with a substitution of their own as well as Fellah replaced Strand in the Norwegian club’s attack. In the 79th minute, Liverpool made further changes as Carroll and
Henderson were replaced by Aquilani and Ngog. This paid immediate dividends for Liverpool as in the 83rd minute, the away side equalized emphatically as Agger headed in Aquilani’s cross. Liverpool took the lead in the 88th minute when
Kuyt headed on Aquilani’s corner kick towards Agger who expertly volley the ball home.
However Valerenga struck back to score a late equalizer in the 93rd minute of the encounter. With the score at 3-2 to Liverpool in the added time in Oslo, the home team scored with virtually the last kick of the match
as Fellah produced a powerful shot from the edge of the Liverpool penalty area, an effort which left http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 in their last preseason friendly on Saturday before the
regular English Premier League season takes the stage.
