The Soviet Cup winner has criticized http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Igor-Semshov-c16748 and Andriy Voronin after putting in poor performances in the Russian Premier League
Former Titan Moscow head coach, Valeri Maslov, has backed Dynamo Moscow’s under-fire manager, Sergei Silkin, after his side failed to secure the UEFA Champions League qualification along with the Russian Cup this season.
The Moscow-based club had been earmarked as favourites to land silver medal this term after an impressive second league round. However, they struggled to find consistency in their performances in the third league round after failing to retain the second-spot
in the league table.
There is little arguing that Dynamo would have secured a Champions League berth, had they won their last two matches against Rubin Kazan and Kuban Krasnodar respectively.
The White-blues suffered a 1-0 defeat against the Kazan-based club at home before dropping two points against the Cossacks in their last game of the season.
Dynamo, meanwhile, missed a decent opportunity to end their long trophy wait, as they lost the Russian Cup final against Rubin at Yekaterinburg stadium. The last time the Louders won the cup tournament was back in 1995, when they defeated FC Rotor Volgograd
in the final.
Maslov lamented the growing problems at the Moscow-based club, conceding that the Russian outfit lacked motivation and confidence going into the third league round. He blamed senior players for Dynamo’s poor form and gave examples of club captain, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Andriy-Voronin-c6020,
and veteran midfielder, Igor Semshov.
The aforementioned players failed to impress during the round, having contributed a single goal between them during the last round.
“Dynamo were having a decent league campaign before the start of the last round. I think Semshov and Voronin are to blame for their poor run of form. They lost their faith in Silkin for some reason."
“If Voronin wants to leave, he can go. But I don’t think Silkin should leave the Moscow-based club at the moment.” The Soviet Cup winner was quoted as saying.
Media reports in Russia suggest that Voronin and Semshov are set to leave Moscow this summer after having a dispute with their manager, Sergei Silkin, over lack of first team action.
