Valerien Ismael takes charge of Hannover U23 side – Bundesliga News
Hannover officials have confirmed Valerien Ismael’s appointment as the new manager of their youth side. The former Hannover player was previously an assistant general manager with the first team and was appointed to the club’s board last
year.
Having spent two years playing at AWD-Arena for the Reds, Ismael is unlikely to have any problems settling in this new role.

The former central defender showed gratitude towards Hannover officials for entrusting him with youth team’s coaching role and vowed to live up to the expectations.
Valerien has reportedly signed a three-year deal with Die Roten which will keep him at AWD-Arena until 2014. The 36-year-old also wished to take charge of Hannover’s senior team after completing his deal with the U23 outfit.
Hannover sporting director, Joerg Schmadtke, congratulated Ismael at the beginning of his new profession, wishing him best of luck for his future. The sporting director also believed that the former player could handle the situation better and was the best
available option.
While talking to reporters regarding Ismael’s appointment, Schmadtke further enthused, "This is a great opportunity for Vale to continue his impressive professional career on the pitch.”
He also added, "I am convinced that he can be a good coach with his experience and qualities and I wish him plenty of success."
This is Valerien’s first coaching job for any side after serving as an assistant right after retiring from club football in 2009.
Ismael started his playing career with Strasbourg in 1993 and managed 87 league appearances during his five-year stay. In 1998, the Frenchmen tied knots with Crystal Palace, playing 13 league games before making a move to Lens.
The former sweeper notched up 87 Ligue 1 appearances during his four-year stay at Stade Felix Bollaert, bagging five goals in return. He also has represented the likes of Werder Bremen, Bayern Munich and Hannover.
