Valery Karpin praises Spartak Moscow’s work against Zenit St. Petersburg: Russian Premier League
In the latest round of Russian Premier League, Spartak Moscow drew 2-2 against Zenit St. Petersburg at Luzhniki stadium. In the aftermath of the result, the Myaso head coach Valery Karpin has expressed mixed emotions on the stalemate.
Karpin was of the view that Spartak played quality football and managed to deny an attacking team, that is are at the top of the league table. The Russian tactician admitted that it was difficult to control the game, having Nicolas Pareja being sent-off
during the first half.
The Moscow-based club were reduced to ten men on the 42nd minutes mark, as the Argentine national received his marching orders from the match official. Karpin praised the Red-whites’ performance which earned them a late equalizer in the game.

“It's a shame that the officials denied the game to the format "eleven on eleven", and we had to play the second half with ten men. It would have been much more interesting and I am sure the result would have been different as well.” He said of the red card
decision.  
But he expressed his satisfaction over the final result, saying:
“But I am happy with my players because they managed to get an equalizer, despite Pareja being sent off. In the first half, Spartacus created chances, we could have scored more than one goal.”
Karpin was of the view that Spartak still have time to claim a decent spot on the league table and admitted that they are focusing primarily on the league after being eliminated from the UEFA Europa League and the Russian Cup tournament.
The Intertoto Cup winner insisted that the Red-Whites are at the top of their game and hoped for another breathtaking display from his side, when they take on Rubin Kazan in the upcoming league encounter at Tsentralnyi Stadium.
