Validity of UK work permit

Hi,

While i was working with my prev org, I got UK work permit from them which is valid till 2012.

After leaving the co, they took over the offer letter (of UK org), but there is no cancellation stamp on my work permit.

The quest is, can i apply for Job in uk with that work permit or permit automatically gets cancelled after leaving the co?

The name of the co is not mentioned on the work permit. I dont know if some backend stuff takes place.

Is there a website to check the work permit validity?

Your UK work permit is invalid after you leave the company. It was your company who applied for the particular work permit and hence once you leave the company your work permit is invalid unless you have transferred it to some other company.

No, you cannot apply for a job in the UK on the same work permit. Instead you will have to apply for a HSMP (Highly Skilled Migration Programme) Visa or get some other company to sponsor your work permit for you.
