Valtteri Bottas claims he has not learnt any particular thing from Pastor Maldonado – Formula 1 news
Williams’ driver Valtteri Bottas has said that he has not learnt any particular thing from his teammate, Pasto Maldonado and asserted that his performances have been relatively better than the Venezuelan driver.
Bottas joined the Grove based squad as a race driver in this season as Bruno Senna’s replacement. He showed an amazing performance in the last year’s Young Driver Test held in Abu Dhabi and replaced Senna in many practice sessions throughout the season.
Unfortunately, he has not been able to attain even a single point for his team in the season so far. However, he believes that he has performed relatively well as compared to Maldonado who has finished only three races until now and remained unable to pocket
any point.
“I think my performances relative to Pastor have been pretty good,” he told the official F1 website. “Pastor is experienced - it’s already his third year at Williams - and I would say that I match him more-or-less.”
In addition, he said that he has not learnt anything specific from the 28-year-old, but he do observes the performance of the Venezuelan to improve his performance.
“I can't really point at one particular thing that I've learned from him, but of course you pick up things, especially at a track like Monaco that I didn't know before this season. I was reading his data very carefully to see how he was doing,” he added.
It will be important to note that Williams’ deputy team principal, Claire Williams backed the Finnish driver as a future world champion despite his poor start to this season.
Additionally, she said that the 23-year-old has performed really well in the season so far as he has completed every race and showed some remarkable overtaking moves. She also said that the Finn has provided them some important feedback which they can use
to make further advancements in their car.
The British squad are trying their best to make the necessary developments in their car to come up stronger in the forthcoming races. It will be exciting to see how their drivers show up in Montreal.
