Valtteri Bottas delighted to drive at wet Friday practice of 2012 Belgian GP – Formula 1 news
Williams’ test driver, Valtteri Bottas has expressed his delight over getting valuable experience of driving the car in the rainy conditions during the free Friday practice of the 2012 Belgian Grand Prix.
Bottas covered 16 laps in the first practice session of the Belgian GP and felt quite contended with the amount of information which he managed to gather so as to make the necessary assessment of the car’s updates.
Moreover, he said that he was extremely happy as he gained worthwhile chance of learning about running a car on the wet track.
"I think every kilometer with this car even whatever conditions it is I'm always learning at the moment," Bottas said. "It was nice to experience Spa even though it was wet, but still it was really challenging too."
Furthermore, he said that their aim was to collect as much data as they could during the practice, in which they remained quite successful despite the unfavourable climate.
"We have a lot of time to get some running in no matter what weather is, but then I have to take care when the weather is like today to bring the car back in one piece," he said.
In addition, he said that he has mostly driven the car in the rainy conditions during the practice sessions in the season so far. However, he asserted that getting a chance to drive on wet Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps is very unique experience which has
really helped him a lot in understanding about coping with the fast corners of the track during rain.
"I think I've been a little bit unlucky, because on most of the weekends there has been a little bit of rain on Fridays," he added.
Over and above, it will be important to note that after performing tremendously well in the Young driver Test at Silverstone Circuit, the Finn is hoping to secure a race seat with the Grove based team in the coming season.
It will be exciting to see that whether he will be able to race with the British team in the next season or not.
