Valtteri Bottas feeling excited about Young Driver Test in Silverstone – Formula 1 news
Williams test driver Valtteri Bottas has said that he is feeling really excited about Young Driver Test which is to be held at Silverstone Circuit.
Valtteri is positively looking forward to secure a race seat in Williams as the British team has recently expressed that they are going to assess the performance of their reserve driver for the race seat in the future.
The Finnish driver has drove for Williams in many practice sessions in the current season and he wants to pursue his career in the sport.
It will be important to mention that he had a limited run in the first Friday free practice session of British GP because of the rain. Therefore, he is hoping for good weather conditions in the test ahead at Silverstone so as to deliver his best performance.
“I'm really looking forward to the test this week,” Bottas said. “In total I've only had four full test days in a Formula One car alongside the FP1 sessions this season, so I really want to get some good mileage in. We have some interesting things to test
this week as well as a longer race simulation planned, which, provided the weather stays good, will be a great experience for me.”
In addition, he said that he is focussing on making the necessary evaluations about the car and establishing a long lasting relationship with his team.
“I'm looking forward to being able to do some longer runs in the Williams Renault FW34, as well as strengthening my relationship with the engineers,” he said.
On the other hand, the chief operations engineer of Williams, Mark Gillan has also asserted that they are eager about the forthcoming test in which they will make the essential judgment about Bottas for considering him as their future race driver.
The Grove based team has emerged as one of the most competent contenders in this year’s championship. At present, they are standing at 7th position in the constructors’ championship with 47 points. Additionally, they are 13 points behind their
main rival, Sauber and are 3 points ahead of Force India.
Above and beyond, it will be interesting to see how they progress in the season ahead.
