Valtteri Bottas says he expects a long career in Williams – Formula 1 news
Williams test driver Valtteri Bottas is looking forward towards a stable career with the team.
He said that he enjoys competing Maldonado and has sometimes beaten him. He added that he feels comfortable in the team.
Bottas told GP Week, “It's good that I can match (Maldonado) and sometimes beat him, and there's a lot more to come if I get to drive more. I really enjoy working with these people and Williams has a great history. I feel at home here.”
Bottas said that the ideal driver will remain a part of team and he expects that he would have a long career with the team.
“The ideal would be to stay here and I hope for a long career with Williams,” he said.
Furthermore, he said that it is more favourable to have financial backups and they are trying for that.
He added, “It helps if you have some financial backing and of course we're pushing for that.”
The Finnish driver joined Williams in the current 2012 season. The chief operations engineer of Williams, Mark Gillan also supports the young driver and has earlier said that he wants to see the driver driving.
Bottas is very positive about his driving skills and thinks that he will be able to race by the end of the current season. He has already impressed people with his driving skills on the circuit during the practice sessions.
With the exhibited performances, he is all set to start a race but he wants to learn more about racing while he test drives for Williams. It is expected that in the next 2013 season he will be driving for the team.
Bottas has won four races until now and one pole position in GP3 Series driving for Lotus ART. In the GP3 series, he has registered 2 fastest laps. In the last season, he was representing Lotus ART through which he took part in 16 races and registered 4
wins.
Spectators would be eager to see if he can give the same performances in the Formula 1 championship as he has been giving in the GP3 Series.
