Valtteri Bottas says he is just keeping his focus on the next race – Formula 1 news
Williams’ driver Valtteri Bottas believes that he is struggling in his first Formula 1 season because of their incompetent car, but insisted that he is not focussing on his long-term future and is just aiming to perform well in the next race.
Bottas performed remarkably well as reserve driver at the Grove based squad during the last season. He impressed everyone with his amazing pace in the Young Driver Test held in Abu Dhabi and took part in many free practice sessions in place of Bruno Senna
who left Williams at the end of the preceding year.
However, he has not been able to score even a single point in the season until now because the British team has not provided him a competitive car as compared to his rivals.
“No one expected that we wouldn't have any points until now because everyone was hoping we would make as step from last year,” Bottas said. “The things I'm doing in the car, maybe some good things are very difficult to see from outside.”
Nevertheless, he has said that he is not feeling upset and is positively looking forward to perform well in the season ahead. Besides, he stated that he has got good feedback from his team and is trying to learn as much as he can to perform well in the forthcoming
races.
“All I can do is just do my best all the time,” he said. “I have got positive feedback from the team and I'm still learning all the time and pace wise I've been matching Pastor [Maldonado], we've been very close.”
Additionally, he said that it is too early to lose hope and asserted that he is currently just eying to do well in the next race which is going to be held at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal on June 9, 2013.
“It's too early to think about that. I just keep focused on the current race and then the next one and the next one,” he added.
It will be interesting to see whether he will be able to score any points in the approaching race or not.
