Valtteri Bottas thinks he deserves to stay at Williams – Formula 1 news
Williams’ driver Valtteri Bottas believes that he deserves to stay at his current team in the future, despite being unable to score any points in the 2013 Formula 1 season so far.
Bottas earned a race seat at the British team for this season after delivering some amazing performances as a reserve driver during the preceding year. He impressed everyone with his tremendous pace in the last year’s Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi and replaced
Bruno Senna in many practice sessions.
Even though, he has not been able to score even single point for his team in the season until now. Nevertheless, he has said that he is not feeling disappointed and is confidently looking forward to perform well in the season ahead. In addition, he stated
that he is aiming to deliver his best in the forthcoming races and hoping to come up with a stronger car so as to compete well with his rivals.
“Sure, that sounds good!” Bottas told MTV3. “Let's hope this continues. There's no point thinking about it too much. The best thing I can do is focus on the race and do my best. Things then go in the direction you want them to go.”
It is to be noted that he showed an amazing qualifying pace at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal and managed to secure third grid slot for the race. However, he could not maximise on his qualifying performance and failed to score any points as he came
14th in the race.
Regardless of the poor result in the Canadian GP, the Finn has asserted that he wants to stay at the Grove based team in the future.
“I think Canada was good for me in that I was able to show my skills. Hopefully it proved that I deserve a place,” he added.
The 23-year-old has been considered as one of the most talented youngsters in the sport. Although, he has been unable to pocket any points in the season so far, his hopes are high and it will be exciting to see how he performs in the approaching races.
