Valve hammer editor problems

i cant make anything bigger or smaller than a block in hammer editor, this is causing me problems. Help please.

But i am having a problem in compiling maps,

I want to compile maps into bsp format for counter strike 1.6, and i can not do it so!!

Maybe i dont have the right settings or maybe my compilers are very old. Please help me
