Vamp Diaries ... inspiration for SMeyers?

Question

I wonder, and i'm readin the series by LJ Smith. and there are a h**l of a lot of tiny details that are similar. not even that, the main plots have a striking resemblance.

hmmm... anyone whose read both want to comment on this??

I noticed it also.

While I was reading the Twilight series I thought "Wow, she's trying to make these horrible books like the Vamp diaries"

The whole Idea of loving two people.

Both girls feeling as if they don't belong where they are.

Both girls being turned into vampires

Both girls giving up friendships to other people to concentrate on the two they love.

She did the same thing with The Host in my opinion.

The Host is a lot like The Uglies series.

Both have the story of a girl who fights against a change she doesn't want (a soul being placed in her body, or a surgery that affects her mind)

Once the change happens, they both fight against memories they feel

They both have a "normal" person waiting for them

I'm surprised she's been able to get away with it actually.

I would have thought someone would have said something about it.

that series doesn't even come close to being as good as the twilight series!!

I have never read the Vamp Diaries series, so I can't really answer this question well, but I'll say this: They are all alike

If it's a story about vampires you'll always find things that are the same, or almost the same (except for the obvious sun-light and blood drinking sort of thing) because there is just about so much that you can make up around them.

So I don't really think that Meyer used this as inspiration, but you never know. maybe she started reading vamp stories as a sort of research or perhaps she always loved those. But I'm sure that it wasn't done intentionally.

*i feel like edward and stefan are related, two gorgeous vampires who live civilized and dont drink human blood

*and then elena and bella, both human girls who fall in love with the gorgeous vamps, and then become vamps themselves

*and stephenie did name a vampire Stefan in breaking dawn so im guessing she has read the vamp diaries

personally i believe that it was smeyers own idea and it was inspired by her dream. L.J Smith's Vampire diaries are similar but i think that MOST of it was a coincidence. Which series do u like better.

im not sure, i luved them both... :D
