Van Bommel not happy with his team’s performance but delighted with three points
A.C Milan midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mark-van-Bommel-c24148, believes his team were not at their usual best but he is happy with the win against Viktoria Plzen.
The Italian Champions defeated the Czech side 2-0 at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Wednesday, September 28, 2011. The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 star is not happy with his team’s first half performance and believes that his side gave the opposition
too many chances to score.
Second half goals from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Antonio-Cassano-c6302 propelled the hosts to their first win of the ongoing Champions League season. Van Bommel is extremely happy with the result but believes his team played well in spells
and lacked consistency throughout the game.
The Dutchman insists that his team played brilliantly against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 in their opening and are now only a win away from sealing qualification to the next round.
Van Bommel said, "We needed the three points. At some points we played well, at other times they were good on the counter attack, but overall we did well. The 2-2 draw at the Camp Nou was a good result for us because we scored
two away goals and we now have three points more than Viktoria Plzen and BATE Borisov.”
The former Bayern Munich star believes that his team will only get better in the future games and will be stronger once their star players return from injuries. Milan are missing almost 10-11 of their first-team starters through
injury and it has taken its toll on their performances thus far.
The experienced midfielder believes that a win against Juventus in their next league game could make it a perfect start for his team as the Turin giants are currently leading the Serie table.
“We have played many games in these two weeks, but we are a strong team and when everyone returns from injury it will be better. We are doing well, but Sunday will be a tough game."
Milan have picked up 5 points from 4 games played thus far, while Juventus are on top with 8 points from 4 matches.
