Tottenham midfielder Rafael Van Der Vaart has committed his future to the North London club and is ready to win the Premier League title with the side.
The 29-year old midfielder’s future at White Hart Lane was surrounded by uncertainty in recent weeks, with a move to former club Hamburg looking imminent.
Van Der Vaart had himself stated that he would love a move back to Hamburg someday, where he enjoys legendary and cult hero status. Hamburg fans were keen on the return of the Dutch attacker, but financial issues stalled the move and it failed this week
when Hamburg themselves announced that they won’t be pursuing Van Der Vaart.
German outfit Schalke had also been interested in the midfielder, and with Tottenham purchasing Gylfi Sigurdsson, it looked as if the player’s future lay elsewhere. Sigurdsson operates as an attacking midfielder and was manager Andre Villas-Boas’s first
signing of the summer.
His arrival raised doubts over Van Der Vaart’s future with the club, but as Tottenham look poised to losing star midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857, Van Der Vaart’s importance has increased, with Villas-Boas himself stating that he plans on holding on to the player.
The Dutch laid rest to all rumours recently, and insists that he sees a bright future for Tottenham and hopes to help them win the English title.
Speaking to an English newspaper, Van Der Vaart said:
"My place is at Spurs. I want to win the title with this club. Each summer my name appears in the transfer market.”
"The race for the top four will be a total war from the very first day."
Van Der Vaart is looking forward to working with Villas-Boas and was full of praise for the young Portuguese manager.
"The new coach has good plans for me and this is important. I have heard excellent reports about AVB,” he added.
"We have very good attacking and if AVB imposes an offensive system the team could be a real spectacle."
Van Der Vaart joined Tottenham two years ago in the summer transfer window, just two hours before it closed. The former Madrid player has managed 61 appearances for Spurs and has bagged 24 goals.
