A brace from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 helped Arsenal beat Wolverhampton Wanderers by 2-0 in a Premier League encounter at the Emirates on Saturday. Van Persie’s superb form continued after a long injury layoff, as he scored his ninth goal in the last five matches.
The victory kept the Gunners four points behind leaders, Manchester United, as they continue their quest for the Premier League title.

Everything started in control for the Gunners as they were vary of the Wolves threat. Arsenal kept the lion’s share of possessions as they created a host of opportunities in the opening minutes. The Gunners broke the deadlock in the 17thminute,
when Van Persie superbly volleyed in a clipped cross from Cesc Fabregas into the bottom corner past Wayne Hennessey. Immediately after that, Arsenal had a great chance to double their lead but Arshavin skewed a finish far of the wide post from Van Persie’s
swinging corner.  Arsenal dominated the play throughout the first half hour, as they came extremely close to scoring again when Walcott, Arshavin and Fabregas were denied by the Wolves defence in a single move. Wolves looked to threaten the home side on set
pieces but Arsenal dealt with it calmly. The Gunners ended the first half leading by a goal. They could have been three or four goals ahead had they taken their chances.

and were not taking their shots. Van Persie finally took the chance snd the home side was up 2-0. Fabregas and Walcott made a superb move to slide the ball to Van Persie, who riffled the shot past the Wolves keeper. The Wolves were cut in two by Cesc’s guile

The win takes them second on the league table and puts them on course for a two horse race for the title. The Gunners await a much tougher test when they play Barcelona in a Champion’s League fixture at the Emirates on Wednesday.
