http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 expects a tough competition against Manchester City on Sunday, and believes that the match is likely to witness plenty of goals.
The Gunners will host the Blue Manchester side in a crucial Premier League fixture. Van Persie mentioned that both the teams are known for their attacking play, and expected plenty of goals to be scored.
Currently, Manchester City are placed second in the league table and trail the league leaders, Manchester United by five points. Earlier, the City boss http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 admitted that a defeat against Arsenal will effectively end their chances of lifting the
title this season.
Arsenal are also desperately in need of three points, after the North London side succumbed to a 2-1 defeat, at the hands of Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314. A defeat or a draw for the Gunners will allow Tottenham Hotspur to climb to the third place, if the Spurs win
their game against Sunderland on Saturday.
The fact that both the teams have scored plenty of goals this season, forces the Dutch International to believe that both side are capable of scoring up to five goals in the match.
Earlier in the season, City hammered United 6-1 at Old Trafford, and ripped through the Spurs defences at White Hart Lane by scoring five goals. In total, Mancini’s side have netted 75 goals in the league this season.
On the other hand, Arsenal are currently third in the league in terms of most goals scored. The Gunners dispatched http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 at Stamford Bridge, scoring 5 goals during the game.
Van Persie told the club’s official website, “You feel with City at the moment they could either go out and score none or three or five, you just don't know.”
“It makes it interesting as a fan because we can score five too; we've shown that already this season, against big teams. They can do it as well, so it might be 5-5, you never know.”
However, the Dutch footballer reminded everyone that a draw will not do his side much good, as Tottenham and Chelsea could make the most out of it. At the same time, he was aware that City will be eyeing a win themselves, in order to close the gap on the
Red Devils.
“I'm confident that we can get a good result - we have to get three points, a draw is not that good for either of us. So it should be a great game.” He added.
City beat Arsenal 1-0 during the Gunner’s visit to Eastlands in December. Mancini’s side also got the better of the London side in the quarterfinal of the Carling Cup at the Emirates Stadium in November, when they won by the same margin.
