The Dutch international has urged his team members to be more confident if they want their club to move up from the relegation zone.
Hamburg summer signing Rafael van der Vaart played his first game for his former side in their 3-2 beating from Eintracht Frankfurt. This was their third consecutive defeat of the campaign and the midfielder was able to pinpoint
his team’s weakness after playing the whole game.
The midfield maestro stated that they were not able to win because of the manner in which they started the match. He claimed that the Rothosen were afraid of losing the game even before the kick-off and whining about the result
will not help them now. Therefore, the team will need to put in more effort and lift themselves in the next game.
"When you start a game like we did, then you can never win," he said.
"We were far too fearful to begin with. Complaining about it now gets us nowhere; we have got to work hard and intensively on ourselves," he mused.
However, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 international did see some positives from the match as The Dinosaur worked hard in the second half with a man down and nearly equalised. The attacker stressed that they need to take the crucial chances
and avail them.
"We fought our way back and that is positive. We have just got to put the big chances we created away," the former Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder concluded.
Goalkeeper Rene Adler suggested that he was pleased with the Bundesliga outfit’s work ethic after the red card offence of Petr Jiracek and said that they dominated the play in the second half. As a result, the team can work their
way toward a positive season following their Frankfurt showing.
The club guardian further added that they face humiliation by not winning the games because of the wasted opportunities and this will cost them at the end of the season.
"We are denying ourselves victories by not taking our chances," Adler added.
Last year, Hamburg were fortunate to avoid relegation and they have to get the results in order to do the same.
