The former Real Madrid and Tottenham attacker claimed his spot-kick miss was very costly to the Dinosaurs' chances of securing a win in their last Bundesliga game, but confirmed that he will continue taking penalties for the club.
Hamburg attacking midfielder Rafael van der Vaart revealed that if he had scored from the penalty-kick, his side would have surely won in their league match with Borussia Monchengladbach. The summer signing stressed that he will assume his penalty-kick responsibilities, even after the mid-week mishap, but confirmed that he will practice his spot-kicks more in the training manual.
"Yes, I'm still going to take penalties. I have always practised penalties but maybe I will have to practice even more now," he finally concluded.
Van der Vaart announced that he used to focus on penalties but will give them more importance now after the Wednesday’s happenings. The player returned to his previous club in the summer in order to help them improve.
