  1. Well you have to be 16 and take your "L" test which is a computer test you complete at the ICBC office. Then you can take your "N" test which is a new driver magnet you have to keep on your car for one year.

You can take your N test as soon as the next day.. HOWEVER... there is a BIG waitlist to go for your test.. between 3 weeks-3 months.

Try ICBC in Abbotsford BC, its supposed to be alot easier and a shorter wait.

There is also the one in Langley, the driving route they take you on is very simple.

Of course tell your bf to practice driving around the city in which he wants to take his test.

    GOODLUCK!

  2. You need to take a multiple choice test (usually on a computer) to get your Learner's Licence or 'L' meaning you can now drive with a fully licenced driver over the age of 25 as a supervisor. You have to have your L for 12 months before you can take your class 7 or 'N' test - which is a road test (you can't take it right away as Gloria suggests).

If and when you pass your N test you can drive without a supervisor, but you can't have more than one passenger who isn't immediate family (unless you have a supervisor in the passenger seat), you can't have ANY alcohol in your system, and you must display a green N sign on the back of your vehicle.

You have to have your N for 24 months (18 if you pass an approved driver training program and don't get any violation tickets or "at fault" accidents) before you can take your full (class 5) licence test - a longer, slightly harder (in theory) road test.

After passing the class 5 test you are (finally) a fully licenced driver!
