Vancouver Businessman Tom Gaglardi buys Dallas Stars franchise, brings along passion to revolutionise
With a new head coach and a number of newly inducted players over the 2011 National Hockey League (NHL) offseason, following one of their worst performances in recent years, the Dallas Stars have now also gotten a new owner that goes by the name of, Tom
Gaglardi.
Hearing about Gaglardi, who is a Vancouver based seasoned businessman, one might not think of him as a person who would be able to run a sports franchise in a state like Texas, but it is certainly surprising to find out that he certainly does have roots
which date back to the Western state.
After spending a quarter of a billion dollars, (US $250,000), Gaglardi made the purchase official and on hearing the news, it was easy to see that fans all around the country of the Dallas Stars had a rejuvenated sort of feeling that their favourite team
would be finally headed in the right direction.
"It's a little re-energizing for the club," defenseman Nicklas Grossman said. "We like the passion that he brings. He's been a hockey fan his whole life up in Vancouver. He's real excited to come to work with us. We've got a good foundation. We've been looking
to get an owner to run the ship a little bit for us.”
Hoping for something the Buffalo Sabres new owner, Terry Pegula, has been able to do so far with his former struggling club, Gaglardi plans to bring the Dallas Stars out of the bottom ranks and into the limelight along with other Texas sport franchises like
the Dallas’ football team and basketball team, which are some of the best.
In his opening speech on Monday, November 21, 2011, Gaglardi certainly reassured the fans and everyone associated with the club in every way possible.
"I know that the last couple of years have been especially hard for Stars fans," Gaglardi said. "To all of you, first let me say thank you for your patience and your support and please know that the uncertainty is now over."
With Gaglardi now in the scene, it will certainly be thrilling to see how the Dallas Stars play as the 2011-2012 NHL regular season progresses.
