Vancouver Canucks' Ryan Kesler not to return to action till confident about health -NHL Update
Vancouver Canucks’ All-Star American forward, Ryan Kesler, is one of those players that can certainly lead a team while still keeping an undercover image. Not having him perform up to par during the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Playoffs
definitely had a tough time and were ultimately eliminated from the opening round by Los Angeles Kings.
In order to make a major impact for Vancouver next season, Ryan Kesler announced his intentions of not returning to the ice until he is fully confident and sure about his health being 110 per cent.
“I’m not going to come back early,” Kesler told Postmedia News on Thursday, May 17. “With the program I have, the fourth-month period is when you can really start pushing the envelope and even if it goes until December, I’m not coming back until I’m 110
percent when I know I’m ready and able to play my game.”
Having a hip surgery before the 2011-2012 NHL regular season and than a shoulder injury later on dramatically affected Kesler’s performance and realises that coming back early will only have a negative impact on his health.
Being in his prime year’s, Kesler has also come to realise the fact that these year’s are to be his top performing ones and staying out with injuries unable to comeback, it will only cut his career short from the legendary stage he is all set to reach.
"It's going to take six months and the surgeon [Dr. Anthony Miniaci of the Cleveland Clinic] is not going to release me until I'm at full strength and mobility. I'm doing rehab two or three times a week with my therapist, and rehab on my own every day to
get my range of motion back slowly,” Kesler added.
Being a plus 70 point scorer the past two seasons before 2011-2012, Ryan Kesler knows that he is capable of being one of the best. Last season, he had just 49 points (22 goals, 27 assists) in 77 games, much lower than his 41 goal performance the previous
year.
Vancouver needs Kesler back and fans are hoping to see him going at it fully charged when the regular season kicks off later in October.
