Vancouver Canucks Alex Edler Feeling Good but Not Perfect -NHL Update
It has been a hard three months for Alexander Edler, who spent that time rehabilitating from a surgery to repair a bulging disc in his back, but no matter how good he may feel, the Vancouver Canucks’ defenseman may never feel perfect as injury could come
back at any moment during his career.
At the age of 26, Alexander Edler has become a phenomenal hockey player and an integral part of the Vancouver Canucks line-up. During this time, he is definitely grateful of the pay he has received despite the National Hockey League (NHL) being locked out,
but would give anything to be good as perfect.
“You know what?” Edler said Monday, according to VancouverSun.com. “I would much, much rather be healthy and not getting paid. That’s the most important. It’s absolutely terrible to not be able to be out there with the guys because I’m hurt. I would give
back all my paycheques if I could have been 100 per cent healthy.”
Obviously, he is not going to continue receiving checks now due to the fact he has recovered from his injuries, but that is not worrying him at all. Edler is optimistic about getting back to playing hockey and if not, things will only get emotionally worse
for him.
“The lockout has been a little different for me,” Edler added. “It’s been kind of weird. I’ve been having rehab, so at least I had a goal to get better. It must be harder for the guys that don’t really know what they’re practising for. I certainly missed
them a lot of times.”
Edler, a native of Ostersund, Sweden, was picked up by the Vancouver Canucks as the 91st overall back in round-three of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. So far, he has contributed 184 points (43 goals, 141 assists) in 386 games played with the past season
being his best.
The Swedish defenseman is also currently on a four-year contract with the Canucks, which is a deal worth $13 million and will make him an unrestricted free agent by the end of 2012-2013.
Alexander Edler was not the only one of the injured list of players. He was joined by Vancouver Canucks’ Jason Garrison and Ryan Kesler.
