Vancouver Canucks Manny Malhotra reaches Boiling Point with Failed Labour Talks -NHL Special
Basically everyone that is associated with the National Hockey League (NHL), whether it be fans, players or team owners, has had enough of the failed talks between the league and Players’ Association and it has gotten to the point where many are finding
alternatives or just plain feeling helpless over the depressing situation.
Manny Malhotra, a veteran forward of the Vancouver Canucks, is known for being one of the more patient players in the NHL, but even his boiling point has been exceeded and he is definitely demanding answers.
"I think you run the whole gamut of emotions throughout these talks," Malhotra said after skating with a few of his Canuck teammates at UBC, according to the Vancouver Sun. "Right from the get-go Don (Fehr) mentioned the biggest thing throughout this process
would be patience and that has definitely been tested over the past few months and especially last week.”
"You get frustrated, you get angry, you get bitter, there are obviously highs when you feel like we're really close to a deal and the lows of having those negotiations break off. You run through everything."
Being a representative for the Vancouver Canucks, Manny Malhotra has had more than enough of the dealing and continuous deadlocks that have forced talks to fail between the two and knowing his responsibility, being vocal about it something he is more than
willing to do.
He has been keeping all of his teammates up-to-date with what has been going on, but almost every time, it has never been positive in any sense. Every proposal they have made to the league and team owners has been outright rejected without even giving them
the slightest of consideration.
Now with the lockout in the legal process now, there is no telling what will come out of the lockout, which has been in effect since the previous collective bargaining agreement came to an end on September 15, 2012. All games, which are more than 500 now,
have been cancelled up until the New Year and there is no surety any hockey will be played after that.
The 32-year-old was drafted as the seventh overall back in round-one of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Rangers and has been a member of the Vancouver Canucks for the past two hockey years.
In a total of 855 games played up till this point, Malhotra has 278 points to his name of which 108 are goals along with 170 assists and 421 minutes in the penalty box.
