Vancouver Canucks Roberto Luongo wants to go with Florida Panthers -NHL Report
When one of the National Hockey League’s (NHL) most veteran and celebrated goalies, Roberto Luongo, wanted to leave the Vancouver Canucks this offseason, Florida Panthers seemed to be one of the teams that he might want to play with next regular season.
According to latest reports, Luongo’s desire to go back to the city in Florida where he played his second career season after an entry in the major league via the New York Islanders. Not knowing what to do over the summer as Vancouver’s general manager,
Mike Gillis did not show any fruitful signs of negotiating a trade for his goalie.
"It's been a tough summer, not knowing what's going to happen," Luongo told the sun-sentinel.com. "It's tough to not know what your future is going to be with your family and everything. There were a couple of stressful moments, but we're still here and
everything's good.
"At this point there's no use talking about speculation," Theodore added. "It's been a quiet summer for me. I didn't have to make any tough decisions on where to sign or where to go, a good quiet summer. I didn't really follow what went on. I was back home
just relaxing and working out with my personal trainer.”
Drafted fourth overall back in round-one of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Islanders, has played 727 game up until now along with 339 wins and 283 loses for an accumulated save percentage of .919 and 2.52 goal-against average.
For now, there is no set way of thinking where Roberto Luongo may be headed as the Florida based team seems to be set for the upcoming season, if a lockout does not come into play and Jose Theodore and Scott Clemmensen have managed to keep the goaltending
department strong.
Updates should be expected in the upcoming weeks as the regular season comes closer to kicking off and there is no way that Roberto Luongo is not going to stay in Vancouver with the Canucks along with seeing how the situation has turned out to be with the
management and overall.
It should be exciting to see how this scenario plays out.
