Vancouver Canucks Ryan Kesler expresses confidence in starting season with team –NHL offseason Update
Ryan Kesler, Vancouver Canucks American All-Star player, might have undergone surgery hip surgery this month, but is already confident about his comeback on the line-up much sooner than later, according to him, it could even be in their first game of the
2011-2012 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season.
It still has not been a month since Kesler went under the knife to have hip labrum surgery, something which has been nagging him for the past few years, he thinks that his 10-12 weeks of rest timeframe given by doctors is more than enough for him to make
it back on the ice before October 6, as Vancouver goes against Pittsburgh Penguins at home.
Playing a matchup is another thing; Kesler thinks he will start practicing sooner than that.
"I'll start skating here in the next couple of weeks and hopefully be back by that first game", Kelser told Canucks TV. "I know what it takes. I know the rehab. It might even make me braver to try things I probably shouldn't be trying, but it's going to
make me come back quicker and hopefully I can play in that first game".
When the 26-year-old makes such predictions, it is hard to turn them down looking at his previous record with such stuff. In 2007, Ryan Kesler underwent a similar surgery and was back playing with the team a month in advance.
"I know what it takes. I know the rehab", Kesler said. "It might even make me braver to try things I probably shouldn't be trying, but it's going to make me come back quicker and hopefully I can play in that first game".
Making an early comeback would certainly be beneficial to Vancouver Canucks, who aim to return to Stanley Cup Finals, after missing one of their closes chances in over 20 years.
Last season, the Livonia, Missouri, United States native, remained one of the teams’ top contributors as he maintained a 73 point (41 goals, 32 assists) record and an amazing plus-minus rating of 24 in all 82 games. He also remained a top shooter during
their 25 game playoff stretch, which certainly makes him irreplaceable for Canucks.
