Vancouver Canucks’ Ryan Kesler will not be back before December: Player’s agent
Ryan Kesler, Vancouver Canucks’ forward and an integral part of the team for last nine years, will remain out of action until December and would not be making a comeback sooner than that. Kurt Overhardt, the player’s agent has rejected the speculations that
he will come before that.
Kesler, born in Livonia, Michigan, had undergone wrist and shoulder surgeries in off-season and was believed to be back after taking a recovery period of six months.
Recently it was suggested by General Manager and President of Vancouver Canucks, Mike Gillis that Kesler is going through a very speedy recovery and would be back before the six month’s recovery time that ends on 8th November.
But Overhardt thinks otherwise and does not think it is going to happen before December as they are in no hurry to get him back before he is 100% fit, as he said,
“It’s not happening. He’s not ahead of schedule and there’s no rushing him back. He’s on course to return in December and he’s not returning until he’s 100 per cent. Don’t expect him until December.”
After undergoing a shoulder surgery in May, next month Kesler had a wrist surgery on 27th of the June, which would also need some recovery time.
Laurence Gilman, assistant general manager of the Vancouver Canucks had confirmed that 27-year-old American professional was having some problems with it as he said,
“He had been experiencing some mild discomfort and had some tendon issues that needed to be cleaned up”.
6-foot-2, 225 pounder was selected 23rd in the first round of 2003 NHL by Vancouver Canucks, but joined Manitoba Moose in the same season. He played 33 games for them in that season and scored 3 goals, 8 assists, 11 total points before making
a move to Vancouver Canucks where he made his NHL debut.
Kesler was made to play 28 games in the first season in which he showed an average performance by scoring two goals, three assists for total of five points and was sent back to Manitoba Moose in next season. He was called back in 2005-2006 season after which
he has regularly been part of the side and has played 561 NHL games, scoring 153 goals, 184 assists and 337 total points.
Best player of 2002 IIHF World U-18 Championships, won gold medal with team U.S.A in that championships and won World Junior Championships with them in 2004.
