Vancouver Canucks against the Boston Bruins, for the first time in the history of the National Hockey League post-season (Part 2)
Continuing from where we left off in the first part, the win Bruins managed to come up with isn’t seen as an alarming sign by Canucks’ fans and administration.
For them, it was just one of the losses that they had out of the 82 regular season games and there was nothing special about it.
"That's one game, I don't even really remember that game really", Burrows said. "It's been a long year, long season with an 82 game schedule, but at the same time we'll look at some clips and videos of them and get ready for Wednesday”.
Bruins did quite well against the Western Conference teams they faced this season since they won seven, lost eight and scored a point in three games.
This was coupled with brilliant performances against the Northwest Division teams against whom they lost just one and won four games in regulation time.
Both goalkeepers up against each other are also finalists for the Vezina Trophy this season. The Vezina Trophy is given to the best goalkeeper during the entire National Hockey League season.
Canucks’ Roberto Luongo has done quite well against Bruins as he notched 14 wins against them and lost 10 games. Out of the 14 wins, three came in overtimes.
"Pretty similar styles, we're two pretty textbook-style butterfly goalies", joked Luongo. "Obviously he's had an unbelievable year and I'm happy that we're going to have a chance to go head-to-head.  It's a good challenge, not only for myself, but for my teammates".
On the other hand, Bruins’ Tim Thomas is hoping to come up with the best of his abilities. He is the leading goalkeeper this season, allowing only 2.00 goals per game with a superb 0.938 saves percentage.
Currently, Thomas is on a superb run against Canucks as he won all three of the three games he played against them. All three wins came in regulation time and he has allowed Canucks to score just one goal in these three games.
Canucks is hoping that its star combinations can be productive this time and their defence can cut down the likes of Zdeno Chara and Nathan Horton, consistently.
Canucks certainly has the talent to carry the responsibility but at this stage of the season, even an experienced player can make mistakes.
Nevertheless, both teams will be looking to play a fair and entertaining series while NHL waits for the new champions to be revealed.
