Vancouver Canucks allow their 2011 NHL draft first round pick Nicklas Jensen to play in Sweden
Denmark’s international ice hockey player, Nicklas Jansen has been allowed by the team that drafted him to the play in the Sweden’s Elite Hockey League. Jansen was drafted in the first round of the 2011 NHL draft, selected at 29th by Vancouver
Canucks.
Jansen was supposed to feature in the training camp of the Canucks but he was allowed to skip the pre-season games as he was playing some exhibition matches back in his homeland, Sweden.
But now Stockholm based player has been given permission to play the matches in the Elitserian Hockey League in Sweden.
Anton Thun, the agent of Jensen told the change in the plan that now his player has been given permission by Vancouver Canucks to represent AIK, the Swedish team. Thun said,
"There has been a slight change in plans and that took effect today (Tuesday). Up until this point in time Nicklas was not playing in exhibition games for AIK. As of today the Vancouver Canucks have given him permission to play in games."
Thun cleared that Jensen would coming to attend the training camp and would be given a chance to feature in the first team. In his opinion it would be great if his client is selected and given a chance but even if it does not happen, it would not disappoint
him much and he would probably return back to his native country to play for AIK again. Thun added,
"In relation to training camp and him coming over, there has been no change.  Hopefully he makes the team and doesn't have to go back to play for AIK. That wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. But that's the plan, he comes to camp."

The 6-foot-3, 213 pounder has been playing in North America for some time as he played 2010-2011 season for Oshawa Generals in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and then switched to Chicago Wolves of American Hockey League (AHL) in between 2011-2012
season. He has also represented Denmark’s junior teams in international competitions including World Junior championship and under-18 world junior championship.
