Vancouver Canucks boosting Training to Cope with Sudden Season -NHL Update
With some sources indicating that the 2012-2013 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season just might kick off in December, which is less than a month away, players who have not left to go play overseas are getting ready for some intense training.
Which there might not be a direct regular season in play, it will start off with a quick training week, followed by a short preseason and take off into full blast regular season mode. Teams will not have much time to allow their players to train and take
their time, which is why the Vancouver Canucks are getting back into intense playing mode.
Vacation time is gone as things are getting real and a new labour deal could come into play at any moment in the upcoming days as both stakeholders gain momentum in working out another collective bargaining agreement.
“If they’re not, it’s on them,” Canucks Kevin Bieksa said, according to The Province. “It’s going to show.”
“But our team, more than any other, is dedicated to fitness. We always have been since I’ve been here. There’s been a huge emphasis. We have personnel in positions other teams don’t to make sure we have an advantage in nutrition, and health and fitness.”
Some Canucks have left North America to continue playing abroad, but Vancouver is one of those few teams that have a majority of their players together during the offseason and training continuously ever since the deadlock came into play.
Training is the need of the moment right now and for those who are not playing at all, should be doing so according to Daniel Sedin of the Vancouver Canucks.
“We have put a lot of emphasis on being well-conditioned throughout the year. We travel so much and we don’t get a lot of sleep. So we have to be in top shape. Players who play for the Canucks are used to it,” Daniel Sedin said.
Hopefully, the Canucks may be able to use the shorter season and quicker playoff run to their advantage and just might bring home their first Stanley Cup championship for the first time in team history.
