Vancouver Canucks captain Henrik Sedin despises Team Owners for thinking against Players -NHL Update
Most of the Vancouver Canucks players have been quiet throughout the work stoppage which has affected the National Hockey League (NHL) greatly, and not in a good way at all, but for captain of Canada’s leading franchise, enough was enough.
When team owners go against their own players, it is hard for the labour union to stay quiet and Henrik Sedin took the mic in his hand to despise those franchise owners that think players and fans are “stupid”.
"I don't know if they think they're dealing with kids or that we're stupid or think the fans are stupid," Sedin told the Province. "It's a little mind-boggling when you see what's coming out of their side. I want to hear a change, that they're actually going
to give us something in return for the things we've given them."
With the team owners and players having gone face-to-face for the first time ever since the lockout came into effect officially on September 15, 2012, Sedin is obviously optimistic of something big coming around like everyone else, but hoping for too much
just might be a mistake.
"It's good to see that there are new owners coming into the meeting, but the bad thing is there are still some of the tight group that has been there since Day 1," Sedin added. "That's a concern."
Sedin is a 32-year-old centre position player for the Vancouver Canucks that picked him up as the third overall back in round-one of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. He has spent all 11 seasons since then with his original draft team with 892 games played up until
now, along with 747 points (171 goals, 576 assists) to his name and 510 minutes of penalty time.
The native of Ornskoldsvik, Sweden, did not go abroad to play with foreign leagues due to the lockout like many others and believes that sticking around is much more important in regards to getting a deal done than playing abroad.
Henrik Sedin is also under contract with the Vancouver Canucks to a 5-year, $30.5 million deal with an annual salary cap hit of $6.1 million.
