Vancouver Canucks defeat Nashville Predators 3-1 in over-time to lead series 2-1 – NHL Play-offs
The Nashville Predators played host to top seed Vancouver Canucks in the third game of the National Hockey League Play-offs semi-final series, at the Bridgestone Arena this Tuesday that witnessed the Canucks winning 3-2 in over-time after a nail biting finish.
The series was on level terms after the Canucks won the first game and lost the second in over-time. However, this game was played on the Predators’ home ice but the Canucks were able to take advantage this time out and scored in over-time to win the game
3-2 in the end and get into the series lead.
The game started off with the Canucks on top as they fired shots on goal every now and then. However, the Predators did the important thing, which was to score and get into the lead. The Canucks continued to pile several shots on goal but there were no further
goals as the period came to an end. The Canucks scored the lone goal of the second period in an early power-play to level the scores once again. Both teams kept on battling in the final period and scored a goal apiece to keep things on level terms. The Canucks
came across a power-play in over-time which saw them scoring a goal and winning the game 3-2 in the end. Ryan Kesler of the Canucks was named the Star of the Game as he scored two goals and ended the night with an assist.
The Canucks were definitely the stronger of the two teams at the start of the game with the Predators also coming up with a few brilliant shots from all areas of the ice. Both teams had plenty of scoring chances but it was the Predators who scored in the
11th minute through David Legwand from a well placed flick-shot to get into the lead.
The period continued with both teams coming up with shots on goal as the Canucks made 15 shots on goal while the Predators made eight, as the period ended with the Predators leading 1-0.
The second period kicked off with the Canucks coming across an early power-play that saw them scoring through Ryan Kesler to level the score. Both teams had several chances once again, but this goal proved to be the lone goal of the period.
The period witnessed the Canucks making nine shots on goal while the Predators made four, as the period ended with the score level on 1-1.
The final 20 minutes of play saw both teams coming out strong on the offence that resulted in the Canucks scoring in the fourth minute through Chris Higgins. The Predators successfully levelled the scores once again with a goal in the 14th minute
through Joel Ward’s wrap around shot.
The regulation time ended with the score still level on 2-2. Over-time started and it was the Canucks who scored during the power-play in the 11th minute through Kesler once again from a tip-in shot to win the game 3-2 in the end.
