Vancouver Canucks defeat the Anaheim Ducks 3-0 – NHL Recap
The Vancouver Canucks beat the Anaheim Ducks 3-0 in an exciting game at the Honda Centre on Sunday. The Ducks were looking to notch up some important points that will put them in the National Hockey League play-off contention, as the Canucks looked to extend
their lead in the standings.
The game started off with the Canucks striking the first blow with a goal in the very first minute. The second period also saw the Canucks scoring early in the first minute to double their lead. The Canucks were the goal scorers once again in the final period,
as they won the game 3-0. Cory Schneider, goal-keeper of the Canucks was the Star of the Game, as he made 26 saves.
The Canucks made a brilliant start to the game and it took them just 42 seconds to get the score board going. The goal was scored by none other than the inform Manny Malhotra from a quick fired shot that left the goal-keeper with no chance of stopping it.
Though the Ducks constructed some decent plays that put them in scoring positions, they were unable to convert any opportunities into goals. The period was relatively dry in terms of goals, but the few shots that were fired had a high percentage of finding
the back of the net if it had not been for the excellent skill of the goal-keepers.
The period did not see any further goals as the period ended with Canucks leading 1-0. During the course of the period, the Canucks made five shots on goal while the Ducks made seven goal attempts.
The second period started off with the Canucks striking early in the period. This time the goal was scored in the very first play of the game. Manny Malhotra was the goal scorer once again, as he scored through a brilliantly disguised shot that caught the
goal-keeper by surprise.
The period saw the Ducks productive in terms of shots on goal during the period, but they were unable to find the back of the net. The period ended with the Canucks leading 2-0. During the course of the period the Canucks made 6 shots on goal, as the Ducks
managed 10 attempts.
The final period was a reflection of the first two periods. However, it took some time for the Canucks, but they scored in the seventh minute through Daniel Sedin during the power-play from a powerful strike to establish a strong lead.
Though the Ducks tried desperately to score, they had no answer to the strong Canucks’ defence and brilliant goal keeping skills. The period and the game ended with the Canucks winning 3-0. During the course of the final period, the Canucks made five goal
attempts while the Ducks made nine shots on goal.
