Vancouver Canucks devours Phoenix Coyotes in its hometown shutting out Coyotes by 6-0 – NHL Updates
Vancouver Canucks has literally devoured Phoenix Coyotes in its home town at the Glendale Arena in Phoenix, shutting down Coyotes and completely disarming it throughout the game led Canucks to a 6-0 victory.
Vancouver is on a roll this season and it can be easily noticed that it is serious about winning the Stanley Cup this year.
Ryan Kesler the American helping Canada
Kesler has become immensely important for Vancouver Canucks this season, scoring a brace against Coyotes marked Kesler’s 30th of his season.
He has become the savior and messiah for Canucks as it keeps on thrashing all that comes in its way, continuously improving as seen from its win on Tuesday over Dallas Stars by 4-1.
Vancouver was 3-0 at the end of the 2nd period, but sluggish play from Phoenix easily let them score another 3 in the final.
Alex Burrows scored his 13th goal in the first, Jennik Hansen and Cody Hodgson both got one each in the 2nd, opening up for Ryan Kesler and Mason Raymond to get 2 and 1, respectively.
The Best Team in the NHL
Vancouver is not only ranked as the best team in the Western Conference but the best in the whole NHL, not seeing such a performance by a franchise since 2004.
Being 2 points ahead on Eastern Conference leaders is the only factor but performance wise it has taken the game to a whole new level.
Canucks’ goalie, Roberto Luongo, contributed the most by deflecting more than 25 attempts from the net and making Coyote’s offense look like a bunch of amateurs.
"They had a lot of chances early in the game but we got it locked down defensively in the second and third (periods)", said Luongo, who got the 54th shutout of his career.
Rookie, Cody Hodgson, slid his puck into the net for the first time in his career as Canucks went to win its fourth consecutive game now.
The Coyotes Aren’t a Small Team
"It was a good shutout and a good win against a real tough opponent," a delighted Canucks’ coach, Alain Vigneault, said.
Phoenix ranks 6th in the Western Conference and has now lost the past four out of five games.
Commenting on their performance, Coyotes’ coach, Dave Tippett, blamed it on the low number of players playing and how this was not just a lazy day for Phoenix.
Injured defenseman, Ed Jovanovski, is out, but is it really his absence that kept the Coyotes from winning? Nobody seems to think so.
