Vancouver Canucks extend their lead with a 4-1 win against the Dallas StarsOne of the important games of Tuesday was the Dallas Stars playing host to the league leaders, Vancouver Canucks. The match was very important for both sides as Dallas Stars were looking to maintain the play-off finishing position while Vancouver Canucks wanted a win to maintain the lead up front in the league.The Canucks did just that with a splendid performance in the match winning 4-1 in the end with Christian Ehrhoff being the star player of the match with his brilliant important goal and his assist in the first goal.The match begun with both teams making starting off slowly after which they caught pace and started to create chances for themselves on a regular basis. Chances started to come in each team’s way with some splendid work being in the department of play making.There were several occasions during the course of the period where it was almost certain that a goal would be scored but unfortunately the offence wasn’t strong enough to break past either of the goal keeper. The result of this was a goal less first period which finished off on a high note for both teams. During the course of the period Vancouver Canucks made 7 goal attempts while the Dallas Stars made 8 goal attempts.The second period saw signs of both teams looking to score as soon as possible. It was the Canucks who struck first blood with a goal in the very minute of the period scored by Mikael Samuelsson from a brilliant flick shot that was very well placed.Vancouver Canucks kept on piling pressure until finally they scored once again in the 4th minute with the goal scored by Christian Ehrhoff from powerful strike that went flying into the back of the net. Dallas Stars managed to respond to this with a few strong attacks which resulted in them scoring in the 7th minute through Loui Eriksson to cut the lead to just one goal.Both team moved on smoothly but Vancouver Canucks caught pace again and scored once again to regain the lead in the 15th minute with the goal scored by Ryan Kesler. The period ended with both teams making a few more goal attempts but no further goals were scored. During the course of the period Canucks made 11 goal attempts while the Dallas Stars made 9 goal attempts.The final period of the match turned out to be a very close and interesting with both teams firing shots on a regular basis but unfortunately no success was achieved early on in the period.Canucks were definitely stronger of the two teams as the match progressed and the sealed the match with another goal in the 15th minute. The goal was scored by Alexandre Burrows from a brilliant backhand shot.There were a few more shots as the match ended but the score remained unchanged as the Vancouver Canucks won the match 4-1. During the final period of the match Canucks ended with 8 goal attempts while Dallas Stars made 9 goal attempts.
