Vancouver Canucks has a new star (Part 2)
Sami Salo is very exciting at the moment and doesn’t realize the fact that he is coming to the part of his career where players consider retiring.
Anyhow, he is glad that he was a key player for Canucks in Game 4 and is expecting to play in Game 5 as well. The player was working hard and is hoping that he would come up with a similar performance that would enable him to cement a position in the team
for the time that he has left in the National Hockey League.
The player is even more excited after knowing that the Canucks have a chance of winning the Conference Finals in the next game and moving into the Stanley Cup Finals.
"It's really exciting," Salo said. "All the years that I've been here, we've had great teams. Just seems this year that the team is really united together. Everybody is pulling together as a team. For sure it's been a long journey this year, having a tough
offseason. But we worked really hard to get to this point. Now it's really exciting. It's the first time in my long career that I have a chance to play in the Western Conference Finals. It couldn't be any better."
Canucks was brilliant on power-plays and established a franchise record for scoring the most power-play goals in their history. Salo passed the puck to Kesler after a brilliant move that he created, who then fired a very powerful strike towards the goal
that put the Canucks in the lead.
After this, there was a brilliant show on display by Salo, as he scored twice to put the Canucks in the driving seat and they led 3-0 going into the break.
Salo is a right handed player and this has enabled him to be a key inclusion in the team when it comes to power-plays as Canucks have lacked a strong right handed player in the play-offs.
Henrik Sedin holds the record for coming up with most assists for the Canucks and he was praised by Salo for providing him with the two chances that resulted in goals.
"I don't think it matters who is playing the point when he has the puck", Salo said.
Salo’s performance has not only put the Canucks in a strong position ahead of the fifth game but he has shown to the administration that there are players on bench who are potential game winners for Canucks.
This will surely boost up his chances of making his way into the team for the upcoming games and also as a strong replacement when the Canucks injured players return.
