Vancouver Canucks heading to Los Angeles with high hopes against Kings -NHL Playoffs Preview
It was surprising to see Vancouver Canucks give up two straight to Los Angeles Kings at home in the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Western Conference playoff quarterfinals, but as the series now heads to Los Angeles, Vancouver is hopeful for a comeback.
Vancouver is one of those teams that always surprises and giving up the first two at home most probably means that Canucks have something mysterious up their sleeves. Now that the series is going to Los Angeles for game 3 and 4, Vancouver is optimistic of
taking them down in their own home stadium come Sunday, April 15.
Despite the Vancouver confidence going up, Los Angeles Kings players have trust in themselves and want to prove to the world that they are a serious hockey club when it comes to tense situations.
"Honestly, the Kings haven't been very successful as an organization, but we're starting to move in the right direction," Los Angeles player, Dustin Brown, said.
Daniel Sedin was not reported to be with Vancouver when Canucks landed in Los Angeles on Saturday and it will definitely be a match to see without having their top forward on the line-up.
It has been over 40 years since Los Angeles was anywhere near the Stanley Cup, but now, with such surging confidence, Kings are hoping to repeat history and taking down Vancouver would make it a whole lot easier.
"When you talk about the Kings' history, it's one of those histories (in which) playoffs seem to be few and far between," Brown added. "It's good to be a part of a group that has the opportunity to make history. That's where it comes back to hitting the
reset button. I know it was probably 40 years ago, but a Kings team that was up 2-0 lost 4-3. You just check all that stuff at the door and get ready to play."
Vancouver is also planning on repeating history as the team won two straight in Los Angeles during the 2010 playoffs. The whole history between the two teams makes this series even more exciting. It will definitely be interesting to see whether Vancouver
or Los Angeles emerges on top when they face-off on Sunday, April 15, at the STAPLES Center in California at 10:30 PM ET.
