Vancouver Canucks play host to Nashville Predators – Western Conference semi-finals, game 2
Vancouver Canucks will host the game two of their Western Conference semi-final clash against Nashville Predators at the Rogers Arena on Saturday.
Game one proved to a nail biting contest that saw the Canucks winning 1-0 in the end.
The Canucks are hopeful of taking a 2-0 lead in the series as the series will shift to Nashville for games three and four. In the last game, the Canucks won 1-0 with Chris Higgins scoring the only goal of the game and goalkeeper Roberto Luongo making 20
saves. The Canucks are coming off a very emotional battle with the Chicago Blackhawks that saw them winning the series after it was level on 3-3. This is the first time in three years that they beat the Hawks who knocked them out on both previous occasions.
They will be hoping to continue in the same manner and win the series in their search for Stanley Cup success.
The Canucks are apparently having troubles scoring but the important thing is that they have won games. They have scored only three goals in the last two games but they have been enough to knock out the Hawks and also clinch the first game against the Predators.
Henrik and Daniel Sedin were outstanding in the first game of the series against the Canucks but they have not been able to match that performance so far. However, goalkeeper of the Canucks is still hopeful that things will get better as there is still time
for them to get back on track.
“So far every game we've played them this year they've been low scoring,” Roberto Luongo said. “Who knows what is going to come in the future, but we want to play a certain way and whether that's going to generate a lot of goals or not doesn't really matter.
What matters at the end of the day are wins.”
A lot was expected from the Predators as the series kicked off but they were disappointing to say the least. They were unable to come up with a strong offence as they managed to pile up only 20 shots on goal during the first game.
On the other hand, Canucks goalkeeper Pekka Rinne did a superb job and cut down attacks almost single-handedly on several occasions. The Predators have admitted the fact that they need to step up their game if they need to win the series as they are up against
the Presidents’ Trophy winners.
What they need to do is learn and construct plays and attack unlike the first game. If they fail to learn from their last game, then they should expect the Canucks to win the game with an even bigger advantage.
