Vancouver Canucks play the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday
League leaders, Vancouver Canucks, will be playing host to the Chicago Blackhawks in an important game of Friday. This will be the final game of the day, with Vancouver hoping to extend their lead, not only in the overall league but also in the Eastern Conference.
Chicago on the other hand will be looking to notch up a win and qualify safely through to the playoffs.
Out of the four meetings scheduled to take place between the two teams three have taken place already. The Blackhawks won the first 2-1 and the second one saw them dominate the game and win once again 7-1. However, the most recent match between the two sides
saw the Canucks win the match-up 3-0 after they came up with an out of this world performance.
The defending champions, Chicago Blackhawks, are going through a bad slump and some even put them out of contention for a play-off spot. However, they have started to come up with consistent wins and it looks as if they are a team who ready to defend its
crown. They have won six out of their last nine games. The pressure is on for a conference play-off spot and the Blackhawks are cutting it close.
The last game that the Blackhawks played was against the Columbus Blue Jackets, during which all the big guns in Chicago’s roster were firing on all cylinders. Players like Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and Patrick Sharp played superbly. If the Hawks continue
to perform like they have in the past few games then everybody should be ready to see the defending champions in the play-offs.
Chicago has played 51 games in the season so far out of which they have won 27 games in regulation time and another 4 games in overtime, scoring a total of 58 points. The Vancouver Canucks on the other hand have played 52 games and top the league, winning
33 games in regulation time, 9 games in overtime and have scored 75 points.
The Canucks have emerged as a very strong team this season. They have been in the lead for quite some time, even though they lost the lead mid-season to the Flyers. The Canucks have been absolutely fabulous in the last few games which have seen them totally
demolish the opposition, 19-3.
Vancouver’s dominating last performance against the Phoenix Coyotes saw them winning 6-0 in the end and open up a seven point game up front in the Western Conference ahead of the Detroit Red Wings. The Vancouver Canucks are finally dreaming of reaching the
Stanley Cup Final for the first time in over 17 years.
All of the players in the Canucks roster have gelled together very well and come up with successive wins game after game has taken them to the spot where they are at the moment. They currently are on a streak of four consecutive wins and are looking good
to extend it even further.
Daniel Sedin and Ryan Kesler will be the go to guys for the Canucks. If they click, then expect a very tough match-up. The Canucks definitely have the upper hand going into the game.
