Vancouver Canucks ready to take cup in Game 6 against Boston Bruins –NHL Stanley Cup Finals Preview
The series is returning to the TD Center in Boston, Massachusetts, for Game 6 of the 2011 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Finals’ series in which Boston Bruins will try to fend off Vancouver Canucks and force a Game 7 decider for an equal chance
at the Stanley Cup.
Home-ice advantage has remained crucial in the series as both teams have not won a single game outside their own stadiums which gives Boston a huge plus-point in the upcoming Game 6.
The Stanley Cup will be ready in the TD Center because Vancouver is only one win away from winning its first championship in its 40-year franchise history and could very well be lifting the cup at the end of Game 6.
It is always good to be in the position Vancouver is since they will only have to win one of the two upcoming games while Bruins will need two straight wins, including one at the Rogers Arena which is an extremely difficult task.
The challenge both teams are facing is mental rather than physical because both have had great performances at home ice only, but when they travel to the opposition’s hometown, all of a sudden they play like a low ranking team.
"We're in a great spot", Vancouver’s captain, Henrik Sedin, said on Sunday after Canucks' last practise in Boston. "We're one win away from winning it, so we're excited. But we know if we get out of our comfort zone and start getting overly excited; it's
going to take away from our game. That's a key for us, to come in here tomorrow and play the way we have all year”.
Boston is all set to take the series into a Game 7 decider since it absolutely has no intentions of letting Canucks win the series at its home town. Bruins is strictly concentrating on Game 6 alone, currently.
"We don't want to see anybody raising the Cup on our home ice", Boston’s defenseman, Dennis Seidenberg, said. "We can't focus on the future or on the past. We have to be in the moment in Game 6".
It is a well known fact that without a doubt, the fourth game is always the hardest to win.
Both teams will certainly be up against a monumental challenge as they head down the road for the ever so important Stanley Cup.
Vancouver Canucks will be granted its first chance since last having a try in 1993 and it has been over 18 years since it last had the opportunity.
Vancouver is looking to celebrate its 40th anniversary on a high note with its first ever Stanley Cup and even if it loses Game 6, it will have a chance to lift it at home where it really counts.
Boston Bruins, on the other hand, has much more at stake according to them.
It was back in 1972 that Bruins won its last cup and since then it has been struggling to even get into the finals.
Boston needs to win Game 6 to stay alive in the series and even if it loses Game 7, Bruins would have not given up without a fight.
