Vancouver Canucks call up three players from the American Hockey League
In an attempt to bolster their roster a bit, the Vancouver Canucks have recalled a trio of players from the Manitoba Moose, their American Hockey League affiliate.
The Canucks announced that forwards Jeff Tambellini and Alexandre Bolduc and goaltender Cory Schneider would join the big club, while forward Cody Hodgson, defenceman Lee Sweatt, and goaltender
Eddie Lack would be sent down to the Moose.
Originally drafted by the St. Louis Blues in 2003 (127th overall), Bolduc was signed by the Canucks as a free agent in 2008. He was assigned to the Moose, but would later answer the call
to play for the Canucks on November 25, 2008. He only managed a single assist in seven games, and failed to register any points during a 13-game call-up in 2009-10. Bolduc has scored in 37 goals and 53 assists for 90 points in 208 games with the Moose.
Tambellini was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in 2003 (27th overall), but played only four games for them. He was traded to the New York Islanders with defenceman Denis Grebeshkov
in 2006, and would spend the next few seasons splitting time between the Islanders and their AHL affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
Tambellini, who is the son of Edmonton Oilers general manager Steve Tambellini, has 18 goals and 28 assists for 46 points in 180 career NHL games.
Schneider is an original Canucks draft pick, and was drafted 26th overall by the team in the 2004 NHL draft. The goaltender, who plays a butterfly style, has been a part of the U.S. National
Team Development Program, and also played for Boston College from 2004 to 2007.
The native of Marblehead, Massachusetts made his NHL debut on November 29, 2008 due to an injury to Canucks netminder Roberto Luongo. He made 28 saves, but wound up on the wrong end of
a 3-1 loss to the Calgary Flames. Schneider has an NHL record of 2-5-1 along with a goals against average of 3.59 and a save percentage of .896.
