Vancouver Canucks take 2-0 lead in Series after a 3-2 Overtime win against Boston Bruins in Game 2
Alex Burrows had the first and last say in Vancouver Canucks matchup against Boston Bruins in Game 2 of the 2011 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Finals as he led Canucks to a 3-2 overtime victory at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, on Saturday, June 4th. Vancouver now leads the Stanley Cup Finals’ series by 2-0.
Vancouver with a dominant 2-0 lead in the 2011 NHL Playoffs finals will head to Boston for the next two games of the series to play Game 3 and 4 to give Bruins a chance to play at its own arena with a home-ice advantage.
Burrows opened up the scoring for Canucks giving them an early 1-0 lead in the initial period during the first power-play opportunity of the match as Boston’s captain, Zdeno Chara, was booked for interference.
Boston countered back in the second period and took a 2-1 lead after Milan Lucic and Mark Recchi scored 1:35 apart, cooling down the heated crowd almost instantly.
Vancouver gave three penalties in the second 20-minute play consecutively, as Recchi managed to take advantage of Aaron Rome’s first.

Right after the initial faceoff between Patrice Bergeron and Henrik Sedin, Burrows got control of the puck from Daniel Sedin and wrapped around the net to score the second quickest shot in the playoffs history to bag the win.
Roberto Luongo blocked 28 of 30 shots for the Western Conference champions, Vancouver Canucks, as Tim Thomas fell short in overtime against Burrows and blocked only 30 of 33 attempts at the net.
