Vancouver Canucks’ talismanic Sedin Brothers seem to get better after the rest - NHL
There was a time in Vancouver Canucks’ run in the postseason when they saw a decline in Henrik Sedin’s form. The same was true for his brother but it seems that the Sedin brothers are getting better after being rested.
Herik’s battle to fight his way back to good form continued in the series against Nashville Predators, but he lost the battle as he was unable to grab even a single point during the four games of the series.
His poor form may also be traced to the fact that he was facing constant health problems, bound to have contributed to the decline in his form.
The win against Predators in six games proved to be a great relief for Canucks as it was able to get time to prepare and rest its players.
Canucks has been involved in two games over the past nine days so it has had significant time to rest and regroup to get things back on track.
After the series against Predators, Henrik Sedin agreed to the fact that the brothers and particular he needed time off and the time they got to rest was a blessing in disguise.
"It was nice to get some time off and get back on track", he said. "I feel fresh, I feel I have my legs and everything – it's good".
He has been able to come out much better in the series and scored a goal and four assists in the first two games against San Jose Sharks after the disappointing first two rounds where he was able to score a mere total of eight points.
"San Jose is a good defensive team, you wouldn't make it to the conference finals if you weren't", Henrik said. "It's just one of those things where (San Jose) wants to play hockey too, they want to create chances and sometimes that opens up things a little
bit the other way".
One of the reasons why the Sedin brothers still haven’t shown much success against Sharks is that they are up against one of the best defensive duos, Shea Weber and Ryan Suter.
Both haven’t had much success but certainly have done well in the series so far, scoring two goals and coming up with five assists along with their strong performance in the backline.
Although it is still not enough, the Sedin brothers are starting to get back to good form as they have scored three goals and a total of seven points in the series so far.
They are bound to achieve success once they get going as Sharks defensive duo has scored only five goals and 13 assists during the 2010-11 play-offs.
Furthermore, the Sedins are an important part of Canucks’ power-play striking unit and now that they are in form, they are expected to bag more goals, providing Canucks a chance to wrap up the series in four games to get more rest before entering the Stanley
Cup Finals.
