Vancouver Canucks will look to continue winning run against Nashville Predators - NHL Preview
The Vancouver Canucks started their six game road trip with a relatively easy win, but things will not be that simple on their next stop as they visit Nashville to face the Predators on Tuesday, February 21st, 2012 at the Bridgestone Arena.
The Canucks started off their road trip on fire with a 5-2 pounding of Edmonton Oilers on Sunday, winning their fourth straight game.
Vancouver’s form, is improving tremendously this month with the team winning seven out of its nine games in February and they will be looking to continue in that manner when facing the Predators.
The Canucks are currently second in the Western Conference with 82 points as they trail conference topping Detroit Red Wings by just two points.
Nashville Predators on the other hand are highly inconsistent with results in February.
The Predators have won just three of their last eight games and their roller coaster results have seen them drop down to fifth in the Western Conference with 74 points.
Nashville will start a four game home stretch on Tuesday, starting with Vancouver and they will be hoping to start this run of games with a positive result.
Canucks (38-15-6, 82 pts)
The Canucks will enter their game against Nashville with a big 5-2 away win over Edmonton Oilers to start their six game road trip.
Vancouver’s forwards Henrik and Daniel Sedin combined wonderfully against Edmonton with both twins scoring once and creating an assist. They will be looking to perform similarly against a much tougher Nashville Predators side.
"This was a good start to our trip. From the first faceoff, we started well in the game and we were never really in any trouble. This is a long and tough road trip for us and it was nice to start it off with a win like this one."
The Canadians will be heavy favourites to continue their wonderful run and continue to churn out wins so that they can keep pace with the table topping Detroit Red Wings.
Predators (34-19-6, 74 pts)
The Predators bounced back from a 2-1 away defeat against the Detroit Red Wings on Friday, with a close fought win over Dallas Stars on Sunday.
The Stars took the lead in the first period but Nashville responded fast going up 2-1 at the end of the period. The Predators increased their lead to 3-1 in the second period but the Stars responded late in the third period to make it 3-2 as Nashville just
about managed to hold off Dallas to take the two points.
Nashville in fifth, trail the top spot by ten points and against the Canucks they will be the clear underdogs as the inform Vancouver are virtually unstoppable.
The Predators though will have their confidence boosted with the win over Dallas and will give the Canucks a fight.
Predictions
Vancouver’s form in February will make them overwhelming favourites to win the game and with the number of goals their offence is scoring the Canucks will be able to come out on top.
The game could be a high scoring encounter as Vancouver’s offensive line is scoring for fun in their recent games.
