2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series – Vancouver Canucks win 5-4 against the Anaheim Ducks after shootout
This Wednesday, the Vancouver Canucks hosted the final game of the day as they were up against the Anaheim Ducks. The two teams met previously on the 13th of October, 2010 which saw the Anaheim Ducks manage to emerge
as the winners 4-3 with the winning goal coming from Bobby Ryan. This time, the Vancouver Canucks were determined to win against the Ducks as they played the 410th game of the season. This was the 31st game of the season for the Anaheim
Ducks while the Vancouver Canucks played their 26th.
The Anaheim Ducks were quick out of the blocks as they attacked and defended splendidly. The away side managed to score in the 5th minute to take the lead. The goal was scored by Corey Perry from a brilliant flick shot.
The Vancouver Canucks responded to this with an attack as well. They almost scored with the first shot after the restart, only to be denied by the goal keeper. The Canucks scored in the 7th minute to level the scores.
The goal was scored from a spectacular shot by Ryan Kesler.
The home team scored once again within the next 25 seconds to take the lead. The goal was scored by Jeff Tambellini from a good shot. The period ended with the Vancouver Canucks dominating till the very end as they led 2-1. During
the course of the period, the Canucks made 12 goal attempts while the Anaheim Ducks made 7.
The 2nd period saw the away side dominate the proceedings and be the more productive of the two teams in terms of goals.
Anaheim scored in the 10th minute to level the scores. The goal was scored by Joffrey Lupul from a wonderful flick shot. Though the Vancouver Canucks had their share of chances, they couldn’t find any goals.
However, the Ducks got another chance, scoring in the 20th minute. The goal was scored by Teemu Selanne.
The period ended with the Ducks leading 3-2 as they made 8 goal attempts while the Canucks made 7.
The final period saw the Anaheim Ducks scoring in the 12th minute to take the score to 4-2. The goal was scored by Cam Fowler from a decent flick shot.
The Vancouver Canucks responded to this with strong attacks which saw them scoring in the 13th minute. The goal was scored by Daniel Sedin from a decent strike. The Canucks scored once again in the 20th minute
to level the scores and take the match into overtime. The goal was scored by Ryan Kesler.
No goals were scored in overtime but Jeff Tambellini’s goal in the shootout won the Canucks the game 5-4.
