Vancouver Canucks wins 4-2 against Colorado Avalanche on its home ice at the Rogers Arena

The third game of Wednesday was played at the Rogers Arena as the league leaders, Vancouver Canucks, played host to Colorado Avalanche.
The game was important for Avalanche who needed to win the game and score crucial points if they wanted to stand any chance of making their way into the playoff cut.
Both teams made a decent start to the game but it was Avalanche who managed to score two goals in the opening period.
However, Canucks were able to cut the lead to a single goal at the end of the second period.
The final period saw Canucks catching pace and scoring three more goals in the final period to come up with a dominating performance. In the end, it was Canucks who won the game 4-2.
Henrik Sedin of Canucks was named the star of the game as he scored two goals which proved to be game winning in the end.
The start to the game was good by both teams but Avalanche’s passing, shooting and play-making was superb. Thing got better for the away side and they dominated the play much to the surprise of many.
Avalanche managed to bag a goal in the 12th minute from a powerful long range. The goal was scored by Erik Johnson during power play.
Avalanche didn’t take their foot off the gas and continued to attacking which resulted in them scoring in the 13th minute through Matt Duchene from a well placed flick shot to double their lead.
The period saw both teams coming up with a few more scoring chance but they were unable to find the back of the net. The period ended with Avalanche making 8 shots on goal while Canucks made 9 shots on goal.
The second period saw Canucks back with some strong offensive and defensive play. This resulted in the league leaders dominating the game as they were able to come up with shots on goal every now and then.
The defence at the back was brilliant which restricted the opposition to only five shots during the course of the period.
On the other hand, Canucks managed to make 15 shots on goal during the period. Canucks were able to score in the 7th minute through Maxim Lapierre, who scored from a well placed flick shot. The period ended with Avalanche leading 2-1.
The final period saw the both teams coming out very strong on the attacks. However, Canucks managed to score in the 10th minute through Alexandre Burrows from a decent strike.
Henrik Sedin put Canucks in the lead with another goal in the 12th minute which was scored during power play.
Canucks sealed the game with Sedin scoring once again in the 19th minute. The period and the game ended with both teams making 16 shots on goal each as Canucks won the game 4-2.
