Vancouver Canucks wins 5-4 against the San Jose Sharks after shootout
The final game of the Thursday was hosted by the San Jose Sharks at the HP Pavilion Center as they squared off against the league leaders Vancouver Canucks. The game was very important for both teams with the Canucks looking to pile up some consecutive wins
while the Sharks looked to close the gap on the Canucks.
The game started off with the Canucks absolutely on fire as they scored twice during the first period. The period ended with the Canucks leading but the second period saw the Sharks levelling the scores.
The Canucks managed to score as well to get into the lead. The final period was again a close battle between the two sides as they both scored goals but the scores were level on 4-4 as the regulation time ended.
The game went into overtime but no goals were scored. However, the Canucks won the game 5-4 after shootout with Ryane Clowe named the star of the game as he score two goals during the game.
The Canucks were the dominating teams at the start of the proceedings and with the strong plays they managed to take the lead. The successfully scored in the 14th minute through Alexandre Burrows from a well placed flick shot.
The Sharks with the home advantage managed to come up with decent plays as well but they weren’t able to score.
The Canucks continued with their strong plays through the very well organized offence.
They scored through Sami Salo during power play through a powerful strike in the 19th minute to double their lead.
The period ended with no further goals as the period ended with the Canucks leading 2-0. During the period, the Canucks made 12 shots on goal while the Sharks made just 6 shots on goal.
The second period saw the Sharks on top at the start and they scored almost immediately in the period.
The goal was scored by Devin Setoguchi from a brilliant backhand shot in the very first minute.
Sharks weren’t done yet and managed to score once again in the third minute to level the scores.
This time the goal was scored by Ryane Clowe from another brilliant backhand shot.
The period moved on but to the surprise of the fans, Canucks out of nowhere scored a superb goal in the sixth minute to get back into the lead.
The goal was scored by Mason Raymond from a well placed flick shot. The period ended with the Canucks leading 3-2.
The final period saw the Sharks starting off strong once again and they scored but it wasn’t until the 18th minute that they scored through Torrey Mitchell to level the scores.
Canucks scored once again in the 19th minute through Daniel Sedin to take the score to 4-3.
It looked as if Canucks would win but the Sharks managed to score once again in the final minute through Rayne Clowe to level the scores on 4-4 once again.
The regulation time ended with the scores level and the game went into overtime.
No goals were score in overtime but the Canucks emerged as 5-4 winners of the game after shootout.
