Vancouver Islands property?

Question

Re locating to canada and am very interested in moving to one of the islands (not the large ones) places like gabriola, can anyone comment on which is the nicest and affordable.....property wise....... Have 200.000 ca dollers. if more than that i will have to get the rest on mortgage.

The islands closest to Vancouver are the most expensive - Bowen Island has become an extension of West Vancouver. The best deals are on the islands that are the most inconvenient to get to like Cortes or the northern islands. 200K might get you into a rural property, but won't go far on the big islands (e.g. Gabriola, Saltspring)

I suggest you buy in Sydney on Vancouver Island - a much better investment and much more convenient.

Gabriola Real Estate is inexpensive and beautiful. Most places are on the water or just a short walk away. It's very private, and an excellent move to make!!

omg gabriola is the best and its cheap... its very small town and the people are sooooo nice. there is lots of trails and beaches and there are nice stores and always somethign going on like shows and fairs and horse things... its so wonderful. u can for sure geet a nice house for 200 000 there and also its only 20 mins from naniamo so if u need something tis easy, plus u only pay one way on the ferry. also the sunshine coast it great but its more expensive. halfmoon bay is really nice tho and not so expensive. its so beautiful
